ID Released For Body Found In Newton Along Charles River: Police

Police are investigating the circumstances of a 43-year-old man's death after his body was discovered at a park in Newton, officials say.

Mynor Vasquez-Vega's body was discovered on Saturday, April 22 at Forte Park on California Street in Newton, according to the Massachusetts State Police. 

State troopers responded to the scene around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday after the body was reported by two passersby walking along the Charles River. 

Vasquez-Vega is a member of the local homeless community, according to state police. 

The location at which his body was found is property of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. 

A post-mortem exam is still pending. The following organizations are conducting the investigation into Vasquez-Vega's death:

  • State Police Detective Unit for Middlesex County
  • State Police Troop H Detective Unit
  • State Police Crime Scene Services Section
